The Adventurers Art Auction

australian photographer, art auction, telethon, danny green

Here I am just chilling out with my homeboy Danny Green in front of my photo of Cottesloe Beach at the Art Auction for Telethon.

Actually I just wanted to let everyone know the art auction was extremely successful and the auction managed to raise $20 500 for the kids of Ward 3B at Princess Margaret Hospital.   Christian Fletcher’s photograph of Cable Beach was actually one of the highest sold pieces on the night so well done to Christian for that (which is a great feat as some of the artists have huge international reputations and sell their works for a minimum of $5000).

Thanks,

Jamie Paterson

  1. Well done.

You going to tell us some prices paid or just leave us hanging. 🙂

    • Hey Merv. The top price paid for a piece of art was $5400 but that had a reserve price on of it $5000, so it didn’t climb that high. Christian’s had no reserve on it and bidding started at $50, it climbed up to and sold for $1400 very quickly in fact I think his was the highest selling non reserve price item of the night. My 40′ Cottesloe Beach shot went for $500 so I was pretty happy with that. All proceeds went to the charity.

Three artists only gave 50% of their profits to charity and kept the rest which I thought was a bit wrong as those artists actually make some very serious coin, but I guess 50% to charity is better than nothing.

  2. Good one Jamie.

Gee I not sure I’ve heard of a charity auction only getting half the proceeds and the artist retaining the other half. Maybe thats the norm for some high profile artists but it’s bloody mean if you ask me considering the nature of the event.

    • Couldn’t agree more Merv. Most people were shocked when they found out. The whole idea of a charity event is to give to a good cause.
