Cape Naturaliste Sunset
Hi Everyone,
I managed to capture this shot last weekend while I was down south. I thought I’d finished shooting for the night and was actually walking back to the car when I turned around once last time and saw this scene. Needless to say I had to unpack my camera as quickly as possible as I won’t going to miss capturing this moody, dramatic, stormy sunset. For those who like to know:
Camera Settings:
Aperture – F11
ISO – 1oo
Shutter – 6secs
Filter – 3 stop GND Singh Ray filter
As always I’m glad that I turned around as I was walking off. Have you guys ever done that? Started to walk off only to find that your best shot was unfolding right behind your back?
Thanks,
Jamie Paterson
Nice shot Jamie…and yep I do that all the time…look behind me that is!
There is often some cool shit going on behind you eh!

Yeah, I do that everytime actually.
Sometimes you just have to look back and witness a great shot unfold right there, and once that does happen man, you just have to click away!

Hi Apple.
Thanks very much for a great comment. You are so right, you really do have to do a 180 nearly everytime you’re doing a shot.

Dramatic shot. Wow, I’m out of words and not because of the writer’s block but because this shot is beyond words. Its just so beautiful for words.

This reminds me a lot of how my summer would usually end and look like when I was a kid. My dad used to take me to the beach during sunset so we could both enjoy it. Good days.

Beautiful shot indeed here Jamie oh and yes I have learnt the hard way and missed my fair share of good shots so now I stay until its pitch black and then go for the car ;).

Hi Brett,
Thanks for that. Good call on staying until its dark, I always do normally. You just never know what is going to happen. Peter Eastway mentioned on a blog that so many people always tell him that he missed a great sunset as he is walking to the location and they are walking away from it. He just smiles and says thanks, as he heads out to capture some amazing light.

Yeah. I can’t believe I used to be one of those people who would hop in their car the moment the sun touched the water.
