Ocean In Motion
Why is it that just standing in front of the ocean watching waves crash onto rocks is so calming? Why is it so thought provoking? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Why do people feel so clean internally not just externally when they dive into the ocean?
The ocean, it really is a magic, mysterious entity. Will I ever understand it?

I think that the sky could be just a little lighter I reckon, but other than that cool shot mate!

Thanks mate. I wrestled with this for ages should I lighten or should I keep it dark and I settled for a dark sky in the end. I guess it just suited my mood when I was doing it!

Like the dark sky Jamie! Nice image mate. The sea will always be an enigma because it is never still and it’s depths are still a mystery to us land-based life forms.

Thank you very much mate. Great comments about the sea. I remember when we were halfway across to Hawaii, we passed over a 6km deep trench. I just remember looking below me when I was swimming thinking there is a lot going on down there that I just don’t know about.

Getting deep there Jamie…. some questions have no answers. A good hour down at the beach can clear anyones head or even just looking at your image helps… I haven`t seen the beach for 3 weeks now, 2 more days (and yes I`m counting the minutes) Hope you and your family have a good Easter.

really like it Jamie. I do like it with the dark sky also.
i’d be curious what it would look like with lighter- but for me my focus was solely on those rocks and sweeping waves.
so i guess with the darker sky there’s nothing bright to distract me 😛 lol

I have to admit that I’ve sat on this photo for about 12mths. Why? Because I used the wrong filter for this photo and I underexposed it which meant that I scored a lot of ‘noise’ in the sky, yet I still really liked the rocks and beach. So the other night I thought about it and came to the conclusion that this photo could be saved by making the sky darker. It serves to do two things. It covers the noise which was a big concern but secondly, it draws your attention to the waves and rocks first which is the whole point. 🙂 After getting used to the dark sky the photo really grew on me.

That is a beautiful photo and I like it the way it is. I think the dark sky helps. Also to be honest I didn’t notice the sky that much, when I looked at the photo, I was drawn to the rocks and ocean surrounding them. Great work well done.

I like the dark sky. The waves and rocks are the focus the rest is background, the dark sky creates a brooding atmosphere, very nice.
