Jamie Paterson – Images of Inspiration, Captivation, and Fascination

Welcome To Guest Blogger – Chloe of moresecretshispers.wordpress.com

Hi Everyone,

I’m Chloe and I live in the great state of Victoria and photography is my hobby and passion.   I started to have an interest in photography when I turned 18.   Like nearly everyone else I tinkered around with photography for awhile until I had a moment when everything changed for me and I became extremely serious about my photography.   I was on a trip to the Tooradin foreshore with my partner and I found myself watching the light patterns and trying to interpret compositions.   I’m now 21 and since then it has turned into a full time (and very expensive) hobby, which has seen me upgrade my Coolpix P80 camera to the Nikon D90 slr this year.    I don’t specialise in any one form of photography preferring to experiment with all forms of photography at least once.  I do prefer nature and macro photography though.   It’s my goal to have people buy my prints and have them hanging in people’s homes or offices.

I shoot almost every day, even if it’s just something small, like a pet or plant; I’m constantly trying to learn something new. When I’m creating a photograph I think about the composition, mainly the light, depth of field and leading lines and if I’m trying to convey a direct message, what emotion I attach to it. I’ve only recently started using photoshop to ‘edit’ my photographs as such. However, I do open every photograph in photoshop and do the following routine things; auto colour & contrast (if needed), add my Polaroid border and photography logo.

For the past three months I have been contributing to Ed Prescott’s “Sunday Stills” weekly challenges and more recently “Macro Mondays” – “Sunday Stills is a place to hone your photography skills.”

There’s a large group of photographers, varying from amateur to experienced, that get involved on a weekly basis; they’ve opened my eyes up to different perspectives on everything photography!

Since joining in on these weekly challenges I’ve found myself learning more about photography, my capabilities, and my cameras abilities & stepping out of my comfort zone which has been a huge positive for me.

Thank you and please take the time to check out my photography blog, I really hope you enoy the photographs.  Please do comment and let me know what you think of them.
Also, a big thanks to Jamie for asking me to be a guest photographer on his site, I’m very honoured.

Chloe

  1. Good blog post Chloe and interesting to see your work and hear your story – will have a closer look at your blog later.

I am mostly into large wide open grandscapes and not so much macros, but I really like the light bulb shot. That has great atmosphere and character and a little bit of magic as well!

Best of luck with your photography, it can be incredibly frustrating but also extremely rewarding when an image actually comes out the way we want it to!
